In May this year, the Michigan Legislature passed an amendment that changed the foreclosure process Michigan Pre. The legislation, which was signed by the Governor on May 20, 2009 and entered into force on July 5, 2009, creates additional steps before a mortgage can be excluded. The amendments include taxes interest rates are low and reduce or eliminate late fees.

The amendment applies only when the property is the residence of debtors main. It also does not apply to judicial foreclosure actions because this process takes about a year since the start of the foreclosure sale of the house. The amendment should extend the foreclosure process between two and four months since before the amendment was enacted.
